About 91.9 Classical KC

Established in 2020, Classical KC is Kansas City’s home for 24/7 classical music. Classical KC is a member and listener-supported service, and a partner of KCUR and UMKC.

We invest in generations of classical music audiences to encourage curiosity and exploration.

Classical KC champions music as a vital community resource by sharing programming that reflects and illuminates our broader world.

Diversity: We share classical music in all of its forms for all people.
Equity: We strive to expand the canon of classical music to include historically under-represented composers & performers.
Community: We are passionately local, championing local musicians and ensembles
Progress: We value the sophistication and excellence of classical music, and aspire to demystify and challenge the stereotypes often associated with this art form.
Fun: We love this music! We are earnest and authentic in the way we approach our work, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
Exploration: We share our audiences’ curiosity about the music we play and seek ways to learn from each other.

How does Classical KC's funding work?

The majority of our funding comes from YOU, our community. Classical KC, as the sister station to NPR-affiliate KCUR, also relies in part on support from the annual Community Service Grant of the Corporation of Public Broadcasting.
