Arzie Umali

Major Gift Officer

As the Major Gift Officer for KCUR and Classical KC, Arzie Umali is responsible for resource development and donor stewardship.

Prior to joining KCUR and Classical KC, Arzie spent 18 years at the University of Missouri, Kansas City in higher education administration. For 13 years, she served as the Assistant Director and then Director of the UMKC Women’s Center where she led program development, student support services, and fundraising and fiscal operations. Prior to the Women’s Center, Arzie worked for the UMKC Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the UMKC African American History & Culture House.

With several years in serving diverse and marginalized communities, Arzie has extensive experience educating and advocating for social justice and human rights issues. Arzie attended the University of Kansas where she received a BFA in Painting. She also holds an MPA in Organizational Behavior from the UMKC Bloch School of Management.

A member of the Kansas City arts community, Arzie occasionally exhibits her artwork, curates exhibits, and lectures on gender equity in the arts. She has also served on several boards and committees for organizations such as the ACLU, UMKC Bloch School, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, ArtsKC, the Arts Council of Johnson County, Municipal Arts Commission of KCMO, and the InterUrban ArtHouse. Arzie currently serves on the national advisory board for A Window Between Worlds, a social services organization that uses art to heal survivors of trauma. In her free time, Arzie enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
